Enter WFCX : Whirlow Farm 11th Nov 2017


Hot on the heels of round #2 at Park Hill Flats, comes Round #3 of the first Sheffield Urban CX series. Whirlow Farm will host the final round. The course will feature more familiar CX surroundings but still have a few surprises along the way. The course will be predominantly on grassed field, passing through the lambing shed and farm yard. The course length will be @1km


The race format for this race is one round of 50 mins for adults with first, second and third placings podium at end of round. This makes for some exciting racing throughout the day.




The venue for Whirlow Farm CX is Whirlow Hall Farm Trust, Broad Elms lane, Sheffield, S11 9QF. The trust is a registered charity and Sheffield Urban CX will be donating the cost of a schools residential at Whirlow, to get a class out from the inner city and into the fringes of the Peak District and the ‘Outdoor City’ of Sheffield. you can find out more about Whirlow Hall Farm Trust Here




Race category summary


Amateur Men: Aimed at riders who have either started racing or want to get started with a good level of fitness. The Sheffield Urban CX series offers newer riders an exciting and alternative format to test their skills,


Women: Aimed at riders with a good level of fitness and a range of abilities, either new racer or experienced this category will give you a chance to test your skills on this exciting course


Sport Men: Good level of fitness and experience of racing. Good bike handling skills and tactics up your sleeve!


Veteran Men: 40+ in age but good fitness and bike handling skills, could be your first race or one of the many you have planned for your season.


Junior – 6-11years: Aimed at young riders who want to try out their first race or those who have been racing for a few years. The course will take in some of the elements used in the adult course, it will still be a good test of skill for young riders ready to take on the challenge. Race duration 15mins


Junior – 12-16years: Aimed at young riders who are keen to try out racing or those who have raced for a while. The course features exciting riding and features obsticles to negotiate. A cahnce to inspire young riders to keep cycling the course will take in some of the elements used in the adult course, it will still be a good test of skill for young riders ready to take on the challenge. Race duration 30mins

Suitable bikes for the junior races are: CX bikes, MTB, Hybrid bikes – BMX or single speed bikes are not reccomended due to the nature of the course


Balance Bike Race: A chance for even the smallest and youngest riders to get their ‘Race Face’ on! age up to 5 years. This 10 minute race is a chance to inspire the future generation of rider. We are expecting to see some grit and determination from these young riders! Race duration 10mins
